Mohammed (Mo) Abounahia
Mohammed has joined Novus as a Construction Superintendent. He is a Civil Engineer and Project Manager with more than a decade of experience delivering commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. His expertise includes estimating, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor coordination, project controls, and client relations.

Known for his proactive communication and relationship-driven leadership style, Mo works closely with owners, design teams, subcontractors, and project partners to keep projects moving forward and deliver successful results.
My Story
My interest in construction began with a passion for understanding how ideas, plans, and engineering come together to create spaces that serve people and communities. That interest led me to pursue civil engineering and eventually build a career in construction management, where I could combine technical problem-solving with teamwork, leadership, and hands-on project delivery.

Over the past decade, I have had the opportunity to work across nearly every stage of the construction process—from estimating and preconstruction to procurement, field coordination, project controls, and closeout. I began my career with one of the nation’s leading ENR-ranked contractors, where I developed a strong foundation in construction engineering, estimating, scheduling, and collaborative project delivery.

Since then, I have expanded my experience by leading complex projects for growing general contractors and supporting international construction and business development initiatives. Working across commercial, municipal, infrastructure, healthcare, restaurant, data center, and multifamily projects has taught me that every project presents its own challenges. The key is to remain proactive, communicate clearly, and build a team that is focused on the same goal.

What I enjoy most about construction is bringing people together to solve problems and turn a vision into something tangible. I believe successful projects are built on trust, accountability, preparation, and strong relationships. Whether I am working with an owner, architect, subcontractor, or field team, my goal is always to create an environment where everyone can communicate openly and perform at their best.

Outside of work, family is at the center of my life. I enjoy exploring hiking trails, hosting large family barbecues, and traveling to new countries with the people closest to me. Experiencing different cultures has broadened my perspective and reinforced the importance of connection, curiosity, and lifelong learning—values that I also bring to my work every day.
